Abstract
ABSTRACT: The importance of knowing foreign languages and being able to communicate in other languages is becoming increasingly evident in a world where distances and geographical barriers have been reduced thanks to technologies such as the Internet, which has made immediate communication between different parts of the planet possible. Spanish is undoubtedly one of the languages of greatest interest today. In this article, we aim to provide a general answer to the following questions: How is Spanish in Algeria today? What status does the Spanish language hold in Algerian universities? What are the main reasons for learning this language in Algeria?
RESUMEN: La importancia de saber lenguas extranjeras y ser capaz de comunicarse en otras lenguas va siendo cada vez más obvia en un mundo cuyas distancias y barreras geográficas han ido disminuyendo gracias a tecnologías como el caso de Internet que ha hecho posible la comunicación inmediata entre distintos puntos del planeta. El español es, indudablemente, una de las lenguas con mayor interés en la actualidad. En este artículo pretendemos contestar de forma general a unas preguntas que son las siguientes: ¿Y qué tal el español en Argelia hoy en día? ¿Qué estatuto representa la lengua española en la universidad argelina? ¿Cuáles son los principales motivos de aprendizaje de este idioma en Argelia?
