This new issue of Al-Tadwin Journal (Volume 17, Issue 1, 2025) is published, continuing the journal's trajectory of dedicating rigorous scientific efforts within the space of multidisciplinary academic research. Reaffirming its openness to intersecting fields of knowledge, the journal values the qualitative scientific body of work it has accumulated over the past years through peer-reviewed research papers that adhere to methodological standards and commit to the values of academic novelty and rigor.

The content of this issue is distributed across a range of intellectual and scientific themes that reflect researchers' engagement with central issues in philosophy, religious studies, sociology, gender studies, and artistic discourse analysis, alongside contributions written in multiple languages—thereby reinforcing the journal's multilingual academic character.

In this context, the issue opens with a theoretical contribution on the critical role of philosophy in renewing Islamic jurisprudence studies—an urgent issue in the contemporary Arab-Islamic context. This is followed by a critical analytical study on French Orientalism as a manifestation of political violence, falling under the critique of colonial discourse.

Additionally, the issue features a research paper on religious reform projects in modern Renaissance thought, followed by a study on the thought of Baruch Spinoza and the question of rationality in the relationship between religion and politics, expanding the journal's philosophical horizon toward modern Western thought.

The remaining contributions address contemporary social phenomena, such as domestic violence against women through a sociological analysis of a feature film, and a study on the social representations of tattooing as a cultural phenomenon in urban spaces. Furthermore, a paper in English explores the relationship between literature and feminist cinema within a local festival context, reflecting the comparative sense and cultural openness to which the journal aspires.

In presenting this new issue to readers, the editorial board of Al-Tadwin Journal renews its commitment to established academic publishing standards and invites researchers from various disciplines and countries to contribute to the development of this cultural and scientific project, in service of serious Arab research and the enhancement of enlightened intellectual dialogue.
