Developing a Digital Educational Tool to Enhance Descriptive Cataloging Skills among Information Science Students: An Applied Study

Abstract
This study aims to develop a digital educational tool to enhance descriptive cataloging skills among information science students by designing an electronic interface that facilitates the creation of standardized catalog cards. The tool was developed using web technologies such as HTML and CSS to provide an interactive and user-friendly environment, with an integrated feature for automatic conversion into MARC 21 format to align with modern cataloging requirements. The evaluation phase involved a sample of faculty members and professionals in the field of library and information science. A three-point Likert scale was used to assess the tool's effectiveness in terms of functional aspects, user experience, and educational impact. Results showed an overall positive evaluation of the tool, with moderate consensus on its ability to facilitate professional tasks and support the learning process. Some suggestions were made to improve the user interface, add direct saving and printing options, and integrate artificial intelligence techniques to enhance cataloging accuracy.
