A Study of Immediate and Comprehensive Comprehension Strategies in Children with Autism

Abstract
The study aimed to identify the most commonly used oral comprehension strategies among children with moderate autism. The study focused on two 5-year-old boys, and both the C.A.R.S 2 test to assess the degree of autism and the oral comprehension strategies test were administered. The sample was selected purposively, and the results showed that the children in the sample used lexical strategies more frequently than more complex strategies. They also faced difficulties in employing immediate comprehension strategies to achieve control over global comprehension strategies. This necessitates a greater focus on the cognitive aspect by speech-language pathologists and the development of well-structured therapeutic programs.
