The Sufi Vision of Seyyed Hossein Nasr and His Solutions to the Problems of Contemporary Man

Abstract

This study addresses the topic of Sufism in the thought of "Seyyed Hossein Nasr," a philosopher who has engaged with Sufism in a genuine and original manner within both Western and Islamic contexts. We highlighted the evolution of Sufism in his work, starting from the early Sufi influences to the academic transformation he underwent. We provided a comprehensive understanding of Sufism according to "Seyyed Hossein Nasr," who demonstrated a distinctive and unique perspective, attempting to transcend the discourse of hatred and religious intolerance in his study of contemporary society. We arrived at the solutions he proposed for the spiritual crises faced by modern humans amid the chaos of modernity regarding the fundamentals of their true existence, through the revival and renewal of traditional Sufi thought and the establishment of a new universal vision for the world. We concluded our study with a series of findings and conclusions.
