Abstract
In this article, we deal with heritage, mainly the religious one. It is one of the issues that have absorbed contemporary Arab thought. Subsequently, that has led to an urge to re-read it through Nasr Hamid Abu Zayd, one of the Arab contemporary thinkers. He focused on this heritage through various opinions and ideas, criticizing several tendentious readings as well as the ideology that lacks epistemological sense. He advocated the rebuilding of a scientific and a new, objective understanding of this heritage; and also criticizing its accountability, far from all forms of embellishments and exclusion. It is therefore a scientific reading of this heritage based on a true and realistic objectivity that aims at casting light and exposing what is hidden in Islamic thought. The purpose is to achieve an Arab renaissance that keeps pace with the development of civilization.
