The journal "Silsilat Al-Anwar" opens its first issue with this analytical inquiry; examining the relationship between Merleau-Ponty and phenomenology requires an extensive engagement with many of his predecessors and contemporaries whose writings contributed to this movement—whether by establishing, following, or diversifying it. These include Husserl, Eugen Fink, and Heidegger in Germany; Patočka in Czechoslovakia; Levinas, Sartre, Paul Ricœur, Mikel Dufrenne, and Michel Henry in France; or even tracing back prior to all of them, namely to Hegel, and even to Kant and Lambert before him, while critically investigating the concept of "phenomenology" as a source, a philosophical orientation, and an established methodology for addressing research topics.

However, this requirement remains challenging, particularly given the various developments and applications of phenomenology since Husserl. To overcome this difficulty, we chose to delimit the scope of this relationship by engaging in a concise dialogue between Merleau-Ponty, Husserl, and Heidegger. While this choice may appear arbitrary in certain respects, the academic and methodological justification for it remains viable and well-founded.
