To avoid early rejection, please check that your manuscript fits the journal’s scope, matches one of our accepted article types, and follows the core preparation rules listed below. Only manuscripts that satisfy these requirements will proceed to peer review.

Passerelle (ISSN: 1112-6337; EISSN: 2716-8328) is an international, open-access, peer-reviewed journal publishing high-quality, original scientific research. We accept articles in French, English, Spanish, German, and Arabic.

Fees & Charges

Passerelle is a Diamond Open Access journal. We are fundamentally committed to barrier-free access to research for both authors and readers.

Article Types

Passerelle accepts the following article types. Please ensure your submission is formatted according to the guidelines in the official template.

Original Research

A significant, original contribution to the field, presenting new data and analysis.

Review Article

A comprehensive, critical synthesis of the existing literature on a specific topic, identifying trends, gaps, and future research directions.

Systematic Review

A rigorous review that answers a specific research question by identifying, appraising, and synthesizing all relevant studies using a predefined methodology.

Case Study

An in-depth, empirical investigation of a single person, group, event, or phenomenon within its real-world context. Highly relevant for didactics and linguistics.

Book Review

A critical evaluation of a recently published scholarly book (typically within the last 2-3 years) relevant to the journal's scope.

Perspective, Essay, or Opinion

A scholarly, argumentative piece presenting a specific viewpoint, theoretical position, or critical analysis to foster academic dialogue.

Short Communication

A concise article presenting a novel finding, a new theoretical insight, or a focused analysis that can be reported in brief.

Letter to the Editor

A short, scholarly response that critically discusses a specific article recently published in Passerelle to foster academic debate.


2. Manuscript Preparation

Manuscripts submitted to Passerelle must be written in one of our accepted languages and formatted exactly as shown in our official templates. These templates are a mandatory requirement and contain all rules for a successful submission.

  • Page Layout: All required margins, page size (17x24cm), and settings.
  • Font & Style: Correct use of Times New Roman, font sizes, and line spacing.
  • Manuscript Structure: The correct order for Title, Author info, Abstract, Keywords, and Body.
  • Headings: Pre-defined styles and numbering for all three heading levels.
  • Tables & Figures: Centering, numbering, and color requirements.
  • Citation Style: In-text and block-quote formatting (author-page-date).
  • Reference List: Detailed examples for books, articles, and web sources.

Note: Failure to use the template and adhere to its formatting rules will result in your article being returned before review.


3. Mandatory Declarations

Authors are required to include the following declarations as separate sections within their manuscript file, placed immediately before the References. Failure to include these statements will result in the manuscript being returned before peer review.

1. Funding Statement

You must declare all sources of financial support. Please use one of the two mandatory templates below.

2. Declaration of Competing Interests (COI)

You must disclose any financial or other substantive conflicts of interest. Please adapt one of the following templates.

3. Data Availability Statement (DAS)

A Data Availability Statement is mandatory for all submissions. You must select and adapt one of the 5 official templates provided in our policy.

4. Declaration of Generative AI Use

If you used Generative AI (e.g., ChatGPT) for any purpose beyond basic spell-checking, you must include this declaration. AI cannot be listed as an author.

4. Core Ethical Policies

By submitting a manuscript to Passerelle, all authors certify that they have read and agree to comply with our core ethical standards. All submissions are screened for plagiarism.

Failure to follow these policies may result in desk rejection or, if discovered after publication, a full retraction of the article.

  • Ethical Standards: Details the journal's commitment to integrity and the specific responsibilities expected of authors, reviewers, and the editorial board.
  • Peer Review Process: Describes the journal's rigorous double-blind peer-review system, including the initial manuscript assessment and the final editorial decision process.
  • Open Access Policy: States that Passerelle is a Diamond Open Access journal, meaning articles are immediately free for everyone to read and there are no fees for authors.
  • Data Sharing and Availability Policy: Requires all authors to include a Data Availability Statement in their manuscript to clarify if and how their research data can be accessed.
  • Plagiarism Policy: Confirms the journal's zero-tolerance policy for plagiarism, including self-plagiarism, and details the detection process and consequences, such as rejection or retraction.
  • Copyright Policy: Explains that authors retain full copyright to their work and grant the journal a non-exclusive license to publish the article under a CC BY-NC 4.0 license.
  • Conflict of Interest Policy: Requires authors, reviewers, and editors to disclose any financial, personal, or professional relationships that could be perceived to influence their work.
  • Publication Malpractice Statement: Outlines the formal procedure for investigating allegations of ethical misconduct, such as data fabrication or plagiarism, and the corrective actions that will be taken.
  • Archiving Policy: Details the journal's strategy for long-term digital preservation and the specific rules for authors self-archiving their preprints and accepted manuscripts.
  • Withdrawal and Retraction Policy: Defines the procedures for removing a manuscript before publication, fixing minor errors after publication, and retracting a published article due to severe misconduct.
  • Generative AI Policy: Prohibits listing AI as an author and requires authors to declare any use of generative AI tools beyond basic spell-checking in a dedicated section of their manuscript.
  • APCs (Article Processing Charges): States that publication is entirely free for authors, as all costs are covered by the journal's host institution.
  • Privacy Statement: Explains what personal data is collected from authors and reviewers and how it is used only for the publishing process and kept confidential.

5. Submission & Acceptance

Submission Checklist

Before uploading your manuscript, please ensure the following:

  • Manuscript File (.docx): Prepared using the official template.
  • All Declarations Included in the Manuscript: Funding, Conflict of Interest, Data Availability Statement, and AI use (if applicable) must appear inside the manuscript, placed before the References section. No separate declaration files are required.
  • Double Blind Peer Review: You do not need to anonymize your manuscript. The editorial team will remove identifying information to ensure a proper double blind review.

After Acceptance

Upon final notification of acceptance, the corresponding author will be required to prepare their final edited version of the article. They must then return this final version along with the completed, signed, and dated Originality and Copyright Declaration form

Declaration of Originality and Copyright

This document constitutes a declaration of originality and assignment of copyright. It must be signed and dated before being sent to Passerelle Journal, along with the final edited version of the article. Failure to send this document duly signed and dated will result in the article not being published. This publication agreement is binding on :
