Screening for Plagiarism

IJMLSP adheres to international plagiarism policies. The editors are in their best preparation to prevent plagiarism and other forms of fraud and misconduct in academic publishing. A plagiarism detection software, Plagiarism Checker X 2022, is running to ensure the originality of the submitted manuscripts for plagiarism detection. Each manuscript is sent for screening for plagiarism before the peer review process. One of the secretaries is responsible for checking the manuscripts in terms of plagiarism. Again, the final version of the accepted papers is checked for plagiarism.

Screening Policy Update: Use of Turnitin Starting from 2025

As part of our ongoing commitment to ensuring the highest standards of academic integrity, IJMLSP is introducing a new screening policy starting in 2025. To uphold the credibility and originality of the research we publish, all submitted manuscripts will be checked for potential plagiarism and textual similarity using Turnitin.

Key Points of the New Screening Policy:

  1. Turnitin Integration:
From 2025, all submitted articles will be automatically processed through Turnitin. This tool compares submitted texts against a vast database of academic articles, books, journals, and online content, helping to identify instances of unoriginal material and possible plagiarism.

  2. Purpose:
The primary aim of this policy is to maintain the integrity of the journal’s content by ensuring that all works published are original and properly cited. Turnitin will help to:

    • Identify and address potential plagiarism.

    • Ensure that authors provide appropriate credit to the sources they reference.

    • Maintain the high standards of academic excellence the journal is known for.

  3. What Authors Can Expect

    • Similarity Reports: Authors will receive a detailed similarity report from Turnitin. This report will show areas of concern, including matched text from other sources. Authors will be required to address these issues before proceeding with the publication process.

    • Revision Requests: If any substantial similarity is found, authors will be asked to revise the manuscript to ensure proper citation or, if necessary, to rework sections of the text to eliminate any potential plagiarism.

  4. Plagiarism Detection:

    • Manuscripts with a high degree of similarity to existing works will be rejected, depending on the nature and extent of the overlap.

    • Articles found to exhibit clear and intentional plagiarism will be rejected immediately, and the authors may be banned from submitting to the journal in the future.

  5. Confidentiality:
Turnitin scans will be conducted with the utmost respect for confidentiality. The results will only be shared with the authors, editors, and reviewers involved in the manuscript evaluation process. No manuscript or Turnitin report will be made publicly available or shared outside the journal’s editorial team.

  6. Collaboration and Guidance:
We understand that issues of similarity can sometimes arise unintentionally. As such, the journal will guide authors on best practices for citation and avoiding common pitfalls in academic writing. Our goal is to support authors in maintaining the integrity of their work rather than penalizing them for inadvertent errors.
