About the Journal

The International Journal of Multilingualism and Languages for Specific Purposes (IJMLSP) is an international, double-blind, peer-reviewed, open-access journal dedicated to advancing research on multilingual communication in Languages for Specific Purposes (LSP). The journal provides a specialized scholarly platform for examining how multilingualism shapes the production, transmission, and interpretation of specialized knowledge in academic, professional, and institutional contexts.
Published by University of Oran 2 Mohamed Ben Ahmed, IJMLSP seeks to contribute to the growing body of research at the intersection of applied linguistics, multilingualism studies, specialized discourse analysis, and LSP pedagogy. The journal positions itself within the expanding field of multilingual specialized communication, addressing the linguistic, sociocultural, and institutional dynamics that influence communication in globalized professional environments.
IJMLSP focuses specifically on multilingual practices within specialized communication domains. While research on Languages for Specific Purposes has traditionally concentrated on single-language contexts, IJMLSP foregrounds the multilingual realities of professional and academic communication. The journal highlights how multilingual speakers negotiate specialized discourse across languages and cultures in fields such as business, law, healthcare, engineering, science, and technology.
The journal serves an international community of researchers, scholars, educators, and practitioners working in applied linguistics, multilingualism, discourse studies, translation studies, and professional communication. IJMLSP encourages contributions from diverse linguistic and geographic contexts and promotes scholarly dialogue between researchers from both established and emerging research communities worldwide.
IJMLSP publishes high-quality theoretical, empirical, and methodological research addressing multilingual specialized communication. The journal welcomes studies employing a wide range of methodological approaches, including:

             • Discourse and genre analysis in specialized communication
             • Corpus-based and corpus-driven studies of specialized language
             • Sociolinguistic and ethnographic approaches to multilingual professional communication
             • Pedagogical research in LSP and multilingual education
             • Translation, terminology, and mediation in specialized discourse
             • Digital communication and multimodal analysis in professional contexts

Contributions are expected to provide original insights, rigorous methodological frameworks, or empirically grounded findings that advance the understanding of multilingual specialised discourse.
In an era of globalized knowledge production and transnational professional mobility, multilingual specialized communication has become central to academic and professional interaction. IJMLSP aims to foster research that reflects this global reality by encouraging studies addressing cross-cultural communication, multilingual knowledge transfer, language policy in professional settings, and international professional discourse practices.
By providing an international forum for interdisciplinary research, IJMLSP contributes to the development of scholarship on multilingualism in specialized communication and supports the dissemination of innovative research addressing linguistic diversity in professional and academic domains. The journal publishes original research articles, research reports, case studies, and book reviews, and appears biannually. IJMLSP welcomes submissions of previously unpublished work that contribute to advancing research in multilingual LSP studies and specialized discourse.
