Mimic Language A strategy for learning oral language
This article focuses on mimic language as a strategy for teaching the oral component of a foreign language. We pleaded for a pedagogy based on the corporality allowing students to appropriate the salient features of the foreign language. In any process of verbal and non-verbal communication, the mimic language occupies a dominating place. This non-verbal (or gestural) language is also a “mirror” translating and reflecting culture on a daily basis. It facilitates the assimilation of the oral code of a foreign language and makes it more explicit. On the other hand, it becomes an art in a class practice. It is a pedagogy based on mimic language as a learning strategy that often calls on unrevealed skills for learners. It's an easy, fun, and often satisfying strategy — but it, like any other learning technique, has its own set of instructions that must be used rationally.
