Abstract
How can Berber cultural values be translated by analysing the translation of different types of culturemes in the work of Mouloud Feraoun's ‘La Terre et le Sang’, written in French and translated into Arabic? The objective of this paper is to seek ways to resolve the treatment of cultural elements in the translation of French-speaking Algerian literature texts into Arabic. To achieve this overall objective, the following specific objectives were raised: first, to present an overview of the translation approaches that focus on cultural transfer and the different theoretical proposals concerning the relationship between language and culture in order to establish the theoretical framework for this study. Secondly, develop a model for the analysis of cultural elements in translation. Finally, describe and examine the cultural fields that generate the most significant cultural problems in French-Arabic translation.
