Abstract
Approaches particularly known in university research devoted to translation studies can be categorized into two broad types. As for the first type, it is related to Humanities, while the other type is inspired by codified scientific research. The methods used in the second type of research are often featured by their relative complexities, in addition to their somewhat exotic character. Students of translation studies who have not received training according to the standards of research methods are sometimes drawn to the potential impact of more advanced methods and new technologies, but their use may turn out to be of little benefit when their added value is low in exchange for high costs of resources, as well as their negative impact on the ecological safety of the study. All these issues will be discussed in this paper.
